Professor Richard Carey Smith is the Director of Orthopaedic services at Docto, Head of Department of Orthopaedics, Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Specialist Trauma, Orthopaedic & Oncology Surgeon, Sir Charles Gairdner, Princess Margaret Hospital for Children and Hollywood Private Hospitals and Professor, The University of Western Australia.
He trained at St Marys Hospital in London and completed Fellowships in Orthopaedic Oncology & Lower Limb Reconstruction, Vancouver, Canada, AO Trauma Fellow, Rocky Mountain Trauma Centre, Denver, Colorado, USA, Knee Fellow, University Hospitals Coventry and Warwick, UK Allograft Fellow, The Perth Bone and Tissue Bank, Australia He has been Awarded BC Cancer Agency Scholarship, 2008, AO Fellowship, 2008, Carlile Prize and Medal, 2005, Wellcome Trust Research Scholarship, 1993 and McCowan Scholarship, 1991.
He is happily married with a young family in Perth and enjoys windsurfing and trips to Rottnest.
