Dr John Bou Samr
Dr John Bou Samr is one of the founding partners of the Gold Coast Heart Centre and has been providing continual service to the Gold Coast since 1994.
He has had substantial training in all aspects of cardiology and in particular cardiac intensive care, heart failure and transplantation and in all forms of cardiac pacing. His AREAS OF EXPERTISE include Complex Heart Failure, Implantation of Pacemakers & Defibrillators, Coronary Angiography and Echocardiography. Dr Bou-Samra obtained his medical degree from the University of Queensland and completed his advanced training in General Medicine and Cardiology at Royal Brisbane Greenslopes and Prince Charles Hospitals in Brisbane.
He has been involved in several large cardiology studies and continues to enjoy an active role in education particularly of medical students. He runs the largest pacemaker service on the Gold Coast which includes a remote monitoring service if required for patients with logistic problems attending clinic. He also has extensive experience in general cardiology and performs coronary angiography, transoesophageal echocardiograms and other non-invasive cardiac investigations. He has a strong belief in evidence based holistic medical care.
Personal interests include travel, skiing, cycling, cooking and wine. He is happily married with four “almost” independent children.
